Shield AI acquires Crowdbotics’ Data Driven Readiness software tools

Combined capabilities will deliver an end-to-end AI-enabled autonomy solution
WASHINGTON (April 15, 2025) – Shield AI, the deep-tech company building state-of-the-art autonomy software products and defense aircraft, today announced the acquisition of the Data Driven Readiness (DDR) intellectual property assets from Crowdbotics, Inc.
DDR is a software analytics tool that collects, processes, and visualizes flight data to assess pilot proficiency for post-mission debriefs. Originally developed to help fighter pilots rapidly analyze their own performance, DDR will be integrated into Shield AI’s Hivemind autonomy stack to evaluate autonomy performance and accelerate the qualification process. Together, DDR and Hivemind will deliver a unified solution for mission execution, data-driven debrief, and continuous performance improvement—grounded in objective, measurable standards.
“Building trust between human pilots and AI pilots is essential for embracing advanced autonomy and concepts such as manned-unmanned teaming, or MUM-T,” said Christian Gutierrez, Vice President of Hivemind Solutions at Shield AI. “Hivemind Pilots generate substantial amounts of flight data, and integrating DDR will strengthen Hivemind’s autonomy debrief capabilities —improving how users prepare for, execute, and learn from each mission.
“This is a powerful addition that accelerates our vision of delivering turnkey autonomy: solutions that are performant, adaptable, and trusted to meet the evolving needs of our customers. We’re also thrilled to welcome key members of the DDR team to Shield AI.”
“We’re excited to see the DDR technology, which is best in class for analyzing flight data and pilot proficiency, join forces with the Shield AI platform to further their mission in delivering advanced autonomous defense solutions,” said Julian Capps, formerly the Managing Director of Defense at Crowdbotics and incoming Shield AI team member.
