Vice President of Hardware Engineering
Gabe Mayo is the Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Shield AI. Gabe comes to Shield AI following an over 25 year long career in engineering. He has worked for companies including Cheung Laboratories, TTC (now Viavi), and Acterna, as well as founded two companies of his own: Synaptyx Corporation, which was sold to Telco Systems, and Mantaro Networks, which sold ground-based robots. Through Mantaro, Gabe provided consulting services to market leading clients such as Qualcomm. Gabe considers engineering to be specialized problem solving; he advocates for his team to use analytical approaches to seek the right solution, even if it means breaking down a problem in order to rebuild it from scratch. Gabe earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, with specialty in Electromagnetics.
