LIG Nex1 and Shield AI Sign MOU for Cooperation in Developing Manned and Unmanned Complex Solutions

LIG Nex1 and Shield AI Join Forces to Develop AI-Powered Manned-Unmanned Teaming Solutions for the Future Battlefield
-
Partnership to enhance AI capabilities in Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) and autonomous operations
-
Joint development and global market expansion to position both companies as leaders in next-generation defense systems
LIG Nex1 (CEO Shin Ik-hyun) has partnered with Shield AI, a leading U.S. technology company in AI-based autonomous flight, to strengthen capabilities in developing core solutions optimized for future battlefields — including manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) and autonomous mission systems.
On May 28, during the MADEX 2025 International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition held at BEXCO in Busan, the two companies signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the joint development of advanced battlefield solutions.
Key attendees included Shin Ik-hyun, CEO of LIG Nex1, and Brandon Tseng, Co-founder and CEO of Shield AI.
Under this agreement, the two firms will explore and pursue various areas of collaboration, including:
-
Integration of LIG Nex1’s mission systems with Shield AI’s autonomy stack, unmanned platforms, and weapon systems
-
Development of autonomous operational systems optimized for MUM-T environments
-
Joint efforts to enter and expand within global defense markets
As weapon systems evolve through the convergence of hyper-intelligence, hyper-connectivity, and multi-domain integration, the development of advanced operational solutions and platform integration capabilities has become a critical priority for national defense.
LIG Nex1 plans to combine its expertise in unmanned systems, guided weapons, and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) with Shield AI’s battle-proven autonomy platform to lead the R&D of next-generation defense systems and drive innovation in the rapidly evolving battlefield landscape.
